I just read this article on the coralvue website while looking for replacement bulbs, thought i might share it here for all of you to read.


It states that there is a vent in the arc tube of a metal halide bulb that needs to be positioned at the 12 O-clock position to allow gasses to escape and vent the arc tube, and it also states that this will affect color temprature, and life of the bulb. (see the picture on the bottom of the page)

i dont know how true this is, but after seeing it i positioned 1 of my lights like that article states and it seemed a little more blue than the other, and when i positioned the other one, they both seemed the same.  im running XM 15k bulbs right now,  was looking at Reeflux bulbs to see how good they might be when i ran across this.  i dont know if this makes a difference on bulbs that are not reeflux, but it did seem to slightly change the color on mine,

I don't know if it would affect the color but I do know if you can keep your bulbs cooler it will help them last longer.
