Put this together earlier this week to see if I could drop the nitrates in one of my tanks.  Just tested the water again and it's working so I figured I'd post some pics.

Total cost was probably under $6 and maybe 10 minutes to put it together.  The mesh is available at Walmart in the fabric/sewing section.

Unfortunately I didn't have room for a sump in the stand for these tanks, hence my problem.  My tanks are in my basement so I'm not really worried about aesthetics but the thing I like is it's real simple to remove and put back in.

Hard to say exactly with my test kit but probably around 5 to 10 mg/L since Wednesday.  It went from being dark orange close to the 25 mg/L color to being a very light orange.
